“It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

“Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet.”
― Plato

Love along the way…

My wife always loved these little romantic “quickdrawings” I sketched in 2017.

She turns 50 this year.
So I decided to revisit these drawings to mark the occasion!
She is the organizer, the one who can literally “pull a party from a hat” at the drop of a pin.
Yes- She’s that good!
My 50th birthday party was something truly special.
I already know I’m not going to be able to reach the standard she set.
But… I can do other things!
One of the gifts for her birthday is a set of 50 NEW  “Love along the way” cartoons.

Obviously the iconic “Love is…” couple was “first.”
But on the other hand, “Love” is universal.
I might have drawn inspiration from Kim Casali’s cartoons!
But I believe I embedded my own ideas and style in each new(and old) drawing.
There are dozens of “couple cartoons” out there, but these are all “mine!”

The 25 pictures I post here were done in 2017. One or two were drawn in January 2018.
If you look at many of my others drawings you’ll see I can be a cynic!
But these cartoons…
They are unashamedly romantic!
I reckon the new ones are slightly more inclined towards revealing some of my own life-experiences.
The older ones were occasionally somewhat abstract- For lack of better words.
The new cartoons are more related to things we actually experienced during a lifetime of marriage.

I often ask myself why I stopped creating.
Tough times often closes the tap on the fountain of creativity.
That is when we simply “exist.”
But enough with simply “existing!” These new drawings are also a very tangible way in which I can stay focused in the moment.
Living in the present.
Reminding myself what really matters!

The plan…

I will add the new stuff on this site as I make progress.
For the time-being she believes this site is totally defunct.
When August is upon us I will reveal everything!
I also know myself though, if I don’t have a place where I can “put” new drawings they will simply slide away!
Posting on a public platform is one way in which I can remain focused!

Your own “best friend”…

Of course I hope that as “standalone” images they will still be able to ignite a spark of romance within others who view them.
May they inspire you to care more.
And be a better friend to the one you love!
